Well as always... life has been in full speed ahead and I have been doing everything in my power to hold on tight and not let go... :-)

Since my last update - I've done a few shows and most importantly was able to record a single with one of my favorite singers as a child, Tim Spell. The song is complete it's just now in the hands of the engineer/mixer. We are patiently awaiting the master!

Moving on.. I was fortunate to perform with Jamie Kime and Adam Hauk at the Afghanistan Dental Relief Program event in Santa Barbara in October..... it was a lot of fun and I am pretty sure that everyone there had a great time .. if you'd like to hear some of the live recordings from that gig ... It was a fun event ... and, I was so pleased to meet new people! That night we launched the new Amiena "Live...Dream...Believe..." merchandise... T-Shirts and Bumper Sticker's... They went over well and are selling at my Store. Here are a few pics of some fans who have sent in pics wearing the shirts.. :-)

Ok... Now to the amazing part...

I was fortunate to make a 10 day trip to Afghanistan to see what it is that ADRP does. I wanted to see for myself how the money went to the people of Afghanistan and how the actual Dental Clinic worked..

So here is a rundown of that trip... BUT WAIT...first I was in Dubai where I sang, had some free time... rode a camel, meet up with friends and worked on some tunes... :-)

Now, to the most important part of this blog... Blessings... helping others and Afghanistan.

This trip to Afghanistan was my first with ADRP. An organization which was started by Santa Barbara dentist, Dr. James Rolf.

I arrived to ADRP not knowing what I would encounter but pretty much prepared for anything. What I actually came face to face with was the most amazing people who would each find a special place in my heart.

The dental clinic which Dr. Rolfe built himself in Santa Barbara and then shipped to Afghanistan is a large shipping container. It's got all the facilities that you would probably find in an old school dental clinic. However, it also has the modern conveniences that make going to the dentist a little less frightening! [Sorry, my inner fear of dental offices just came out! :-) ].

Located in Kabul close to the best French Pastry store (thats really the pic of the store) which also carries Dr. Pepper, Lucky Charms and other quaint essentials, ADRP is neatly situated in a gated compound where a two story building/home/dental school and lab, dental hygienist building and, several shipping containers full of dental supplies are also found. There is also a pretty great garden there which the day guard, Ahmed, planted.

The staff of ADRP are dentists, dental assistants, dental hygienists, a maintenance man, a housekeeper, security guards and a cook. Each of the employees have their own story. Sima, the cook, is a widow with 10 children (2 of the children are from her husbands 2nd wife who is also deceased), Lena is recently married, some are in arranged marriages, Soheila, the housekeeper, even wears a burka out of the compound! However, one common theme amongst them all is the desire to "be more - do more- live more."

One recently married ADRP employee was physically abused by her father-in-law while I was there. He did not want her to work at ADRP so he slit her hand open. She came to work the following day and Dr. Rolfe bandaged her hand and gave her money so she and her husband could rent a small place on their own.

One young graduate of the ADRP Dental School is working as a Dental Assistant now so he can pay his way through university. He aspires to be a lawyer. During my stay there he was usually the 1st one to work to open the clinic and on his breaks he was studying (most of his classes are in English) or talking with me about Aristotle, Law or Psychology.

I was amazed to learn that most of the ADRP employees travel on 2 or even 3 different buses to come to work 6 days a week. I also discovered that many did not have running water in their homes and, electricity was a new feature recently added to their homes.

I could go on and on ... but.....

I thought I would just see the daily activities of how the dental clinic operated, the people who came and the lives that were touched. What I saw was so much more. I saw young and old visit the clinic, some happy and patiently waiting, others annoyed, some in great pain and, some even came back the next day to sit and watch. I even saw one crazy lady start slapping an employee. Although I never did get the full story on what transpired, the 'crazy' lady was still treated at the clinic and then sent on her merry way.

Of course, I was an oddity, even with my head covered, and dressed in traditional clothes (which I only wore when I went out of the compound). I suppose it is not often that a female interacts with the staff, passes out crayons, coloring books and gum or even offers water and sits with those who are waiting for their treatment.

However, everyone tolerated me .. in fact, some even asked questions (via any random "English speaking" passer-by), touched my hair, smiled for the camera and a few even genuinely laughed.

This is ADRP- Offering FREE Dental Care to everyone who needs it.

It is supported by the tax-deductible donations of people like you and me.

Unfortunately, I did not get many photos of patients in/at the Clinic as I wanted to respect their privacy and of course, did not want to offend.

While I was there I was fortunate enough to hand out crayons, coloring books and sugar free gum to the children. It was amazing to see how they reacted to such a gift. Some were shy, others were afraid to take it, and some took the goodies and guarded them with their lives!

I was able to go outside of Kabul for a day to the Panjshir Valley .... it was AMAZING!!

It was a total difference from the smells and crowd of Kabul. The air was fresh, there was amazing rivers and trees and homes and ... ahh.. I LOVED it! The drive there was fun... The day guard Ahmed, the "go to guy" Shafee and his brother took me .... it was a long journey but they let me be the "tourist" and slowed down so I could take pictures with my phone while they took pictures with my camera. Back to Kabul.... Outside of ADRP there were 2 rather large trash bins. From the evening I arrived until the day I left, I watched them. I was rather fascinated by all the attention they received. From early morning when the dogs pilfered through them to when an elderly man would ride his bike, park it and then pick through the trash. This literally went on all day. Young and old, sheep and dogs... everyone just looking for something of value to them.

There are so many pics and things to share .. but that would make this an extremely long blog... and, where I would like to tell it all.. I would be overwhelmed... and let's be honest.. you probably would be too!

It's been a few months since I have updated so ... here I go... If this is your FIRST time reading this .. WELCOME to this crazy, fun filled blog also known as my world.

This event will be TOTALLY intimate and kick back, I will be working with a new guitarist (for me that is - but he totally rocks) Adam Hauk, who is filling in for my dear Jamie Kime

Then there is another show I am doing which is FREE (food & beverages included)!!

This one is rather dear to my heart... as you might know I am a HUGE supporter of humanitarian causes... this is the newest one for me. It will be the 1st event I am doing with this organization, so come on out and show some LOVE!! ADRP, Inc. (Afghanistan Dental Relief Project) is a 501c3 Non-Profit Organization.

Grammy award guitarist, Jamie Kime and I will be playing throughout the evening.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if you can make it .. come ... Yeah, if it sounds like I am pleading... I AM.... I mean, seriously, you will have great entertainment, free food and learn about a wonderful cause/organization (and a really cool slide show is gonna be shared too) -

My Statement as to why I am supporting ADRP and its founder, Dr. Rolfe:

I met Dr. Rolfe while starting the second half of my 2008 tour in the Middle East on a flight to Dubai. When he shared with me his passion, concern and enthusiasm for the Afghani people, I was moved. Immediately I knew I wanted to help further his cause and join with the hundreds of others in his Dental Relief Cause.

As a humanitarian and someone who believes that the only way to succeed in life is to give back to others, I am so happy to be a part of this Charity Event on October 2^nd. I am excited to see all that he has accomplished first hand, and looking forward to donating not just a portion of my sales to this great cause, but also my time.

What an amazing hand print Dr. Rolfe has already begun to leave on the lives of those who are stuck in a situation which they themselves cannot get out of alone.

Have you ever sat down and really thought about your dreams and life ... where you are and where you are going or if you are just standing still? Well, today was that "day of reflection" for me .... and, although I am a bit disenchanted at the SLOW pace of the new project and the funding, I am so fortunate and loving life ... even with the up's and down's... Silly sounding I know .. but just had to share!

Moving on.... so, the clothes from Sim Singhl arrived and sadly though they were in the wrong size (probably shouldn't say that here ... but ... hahahaha) - they still managed to fit ... a little ... err... thankfully, I am TRYING (but man it's tough) to do the Insanity workout... OUCH.. anyone done that?? Hats off to you if you have!!

Wow... So since July 4th and the LA Times article ... ( http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2010/07/july-4-declaration-of-independence-text.html ) things have gone a little CRAZY... but in a good way that is!

I am so stoked to say that some Los Angeles shows have been added ... so for those of you in Los Angeles, do pop in to a show or two... ;-) THANKS!

On a personal note, I celebrated ANOTHER birthday... ahh.. turning 21 was amazing.. :-) I went with a few friends to a crazy informative Sushi lunch and then from there ... we went to the Bass Pro Shop .. yes, I said .. the Bass Pro Shop... I admit, I had NEVER been inside of one before... however, I did have a chance to do something I had NEVER done in my life ... and chances of me doing it again are pretty NON-EXISTENT.

However, for your viewing pleasure...

Back to music now ... :-) I received a very encouraging email from Michael Dolan as I was a little bummed at the rate of this new CD ... He reminded me that while doing a project ..... I must do it with all my heart and spirit... RUSHING it just is insane ..... so with that in mind, I am "dealing" with the delays... :-)

Wow... July is almost over and August shows are soon to be posted!

Wow.. today has been an amazing day and its just started! I woke up to a mountain of emails... (all good I promise.. well, a few odd ones too) nevertheless, it was inspiring and a little overwhemling to say the least...
The reason for this is simply put: An amazing friend of mine and, writer at the LA Times, Andrew Malcolm, included my video version of "The National Anthem" in his article today...

I clearly have NO real idear what I am doing ... lol.. but it was a fun change. I noticed that some of the pics from 2005 and such are mixed in with newer blogs and such .. but that's ok I suppose... :- /

Moving on... things are STILL slow on the music end, but head up - its still going... I am looking forward to recording some live songs with Jamie Kime and then, doing a little special surprise for a family member (she reads this blog - so I dont want to really give it away...)

Well, this is basically just a test - good God- I do hope it makes it .. :-D

Hello All...

So, I am really working hard here to be "featured" on the MySpace music page. The last few months we have been hustling to raise funds, get the songs rolling and start on the serious task of getting my new CD done!
I am excited at the progress and the talent that's coming on board... I hope soon to have some new bits up for all of you to listen to!!

Today was a great hopeful day.. I met with a music producer in Burbank who simply awed me with his knowledge and thoughts... I am totally looking forward to working and exchanging creative ideas...

I am so fortunate and blessed to be able to do music.. although sometimes it leaves me a little strapped .. :-) - I would not change it for the life of me ... Music is my life ..

Moving on to another great cause.. I 've just been invited to join a humanitarian group in Afghanistan in October .. more details on that soon!

So ... as you all know ... my work requires me to travel ... lots of cool places and sometimes not so cool places... nonetheless, in every situation one can find humour... twisted as it may be... so, I submit to you the below photos...

The above photos were taken while I was sitting on the tour bus waiting to go to the next city and I noticed some people literally camped out between the on/off ramp on the freeway... I thought .. hum ok .. but then moments later .. as a semi was passing by the little girl above - dashes ACROSS the freeway to the little market we were all at ... luckily, she arrived safely .. but it was a moment to share...

Good Morning .. good morning!! Whew.. so I finally updated my myspace page after forever!! Who knew it would take the whole of the morning...

Anyhow.. all is good... I had the great honour of being introduced to John March last week and working with him ... what a great guitar player.. I'm looking forward to more gigs and work with him in the future ... ;-) And, of course, Ben Thomas and Jamie Kime too..

We are still working on new music.. have about 6 songs and as soon as I can get them up on this site for review .. I will!!

Ok, so I am back to flying solo on the music stuff again .. which is great as now things are being done and I know what it is ... so in doing that ... So, an update... as usual life has been a roller coaster... lots of ups and a few downs...
Earlier this year, I was introduced to a "company” that promised the moon.. however, when the first gig happened... We (the guys playing and me) quickly realized that their "moon" was far different than ours... So, we have closed that chapter in the book of unsuccessful music representation...

However, all is not lost ... We are now concentrating on sharing more music online and of course, the new CD is still being worked on ...

Shows are being posted and new songs are being written.

Overall, things are continuing to move forward in a happy positive light.
On a personal note, life remains steady and the family is well ...

Have you ever had something happen to you … and, the only reaction you can come up with is … “Are you kidding me? Really?!?”

Well, this morning as I was just minding my own business, listening to my music, driving down the freeway (finally after being stuck in a serious traffic jam), out of nowhere… the bumper on my car (yes, my car) takes flight… Seriously, now, I drive a new Volvo – that kind of stuff just does not happen to Volvo’s does it?

Awkward? Yes! However, I survived and, pulled myself together and thanked the police officer (who was likely prepared to pull me over for speeding) for kindly retrieving my bumper… It is now in my trunk & backseat… Again, I ask .. really??!!?? Yep really.

Anyhow, this is just one of those things that must be shared.

Hence this blog. More to come …

So the other day, I was surfing the web … and I checked out a site my brother recommended… that caused me to stroll down memory lane .. and to even pull out audio cassettes – yes, I still have a few! Anyhow, since then I have been stuck in a rut of old memories… How fun those days were … well, most of it ..

Ok.. Ok.. moving on .. as you can see if you have browsed my site as of late.. there are new pages, new links, my music page now plays the full song and there is a STORE link yeah … how great is that? Finally, after having this site for an eternity – the links work.. They are still working on the “subscribe” button to the blog list… however, that should be fine soon.

Though things seem slow at the moment, I am told it is busy in the background.. so hopefully soon- more updates will come … In the meantime, I am still working on songs, music and in the studio …

Was my last post really in November 08?? Ah, it seems that New Year resolution last year did not work out! Anyhow… life has been moving …

I’ve spent most of the time in the sky flying from place to place .. and in traffic.. driving from place to place..

The new project was set back a little by me… when it came to picking songs and music and styles.. I got a headache.. however, that is now all worked out … and we are back on track.

As much as I have been fighting the idea of a manager and such … it seems I’ve lost that fight and, now am seeing it differently.

Thankfully, all is still good.

Moving on… family is good … my lovely niece, Cassie, (Graham Cracker House girl) just turned 10 years old.. Wow.. how time passes...

So as always, I am behind in this blog.. but I have come to accept that.... as, I am sure ... those of you who read this have too!

Not a lot of new stuff is happening at the moment ... the month of July has been slow .. but I have taken this time to relax and hang out with friends to play catch up..
I have some new dates booked for shows and such ... .and those will be posted on the website in the next month ... or so...

However, the REAL reason for this blog is to say CONGRATULATIONS to Patrick and Denise over there in Switzerland on the birth of their new baby ... and, they named her Amina... how cool is that??

I've known Patrick for awhile .. but I was able to meet his lovely wife, Denise, last year at a show in Lugano, Switzerland.... they actually live in Basel ... so it was a journey for them.... Anyhow, I just wanted to say "Welcome to the World Baby Amina... "

Wow.. how to start this blog??
So much personal stuff has happened in the last few days.. For starters – HAPPY .. HAPPY .. Birthday to my little sister.. who allowed me to celebrate her special day with her by embarrassing her .. - See photo below

Moving on .... Haircuts and Saturday…
It started on Canon Drive here in Beverly Hills at a place called Guiseppe Franco Salon and, Guiseppe himself… Enough said.. :-) Thank you Guiseppe and everyone else there who shampooed, combed, coloured and worked on me… you are all brilliant..

Brilliant … Which brings me to my next topic… Father’s Day…
I typically try to ignore the day as it makes me sad, but this year I spent a part of my day with my older brother Joey and his family… which was cool…. A little lunch and shopping … is always a nice way to pass the day… then off to hear him at the church he was speaking at .. .although my sister and I were completely out of place there.. we survived.

So in the spirit of updating .. although as usual missing the right time .. .

Life has been busy.. have just returned last week, or was it the week before from the Middle East.. it was a short – yet inspiring trip… so to speak …

Here are a few pics from it .. please note, I have no idea what mosque this is and I apologize profusely for not having better photos.. however, I was particularly fond of the Chili’s one .. although, not a fan here in the States of it … I still thought it was great to see …

Yes, the beauty of having my own blog.. I can write whatever I want .. well, most of the time .. sometimes the guys come in here and edit it :-)

Music is moving .. Mr. Giulio Graniti in Switzerland has been busy working on new music in Switzerland for me and, I have received great music from Akshai Sarin in England.. so we are working on that as well … and, there is a tune from one Preston Glass that I had a few years back that I really REALLY wanted to do, but could not make it happen .. that now I believe is moving forward…

And then more on the music side .. as most of you know I did the http://www.totalpopstar.com/ competition – it is over now… and although I don’t get the actual online voting competitions – I THANK all of you who did Vote.. although, I have learned that no international votes were actually counted .... Oh, well ..

Then lastly on the music side.. I have just signed on with a publicist in New York.. so more on that within the coming weeks..

Now, moving on to personal life.. Am happy to report that my lovely brother Mikell (who you all know if you have read any of my blogs from the start) is back on a 3 week holiday from Iraq… and, I’ll be popping out to Texas to see him next weekend.

Ok.. ok.. so as usual, I have fallen behind in this blog.... story of my life...
Things are moving along.. I returned back to the sates in March (yep, a few months ago) and, did the whole catch up with the family thing.. So, this blog is going to be mostly about family.. if ya don’t want hear what is going on with mine.. :-) STOP reading now!! :-)

Having said that, I ventured up to Oregon ... (don't ask) to a little, and I MEAN LITTLE town called Ontario to see my dear little Graham Cracker Houses inspiration, Cassie.. Wow.. she has grown up .. tall, silly, adorable.. the spitting image of me as a child.. JUST joking…
Anyhow, I think at some point during my two weeks there, I realized I liked her better when her vocabulary was not so extensive! :-)

Oh well...
I had the opportunity to go to one of her events called Destination Imagination, which was a lot like "Whose Line is it Anyway" but a little cooler, since it was children that had to keep it going.. and, of course, it dealt with the "science" of things... Anyhow, her team placed second.. so that was great to see..

Then moving on ... since being back I've done a few shows here and there, but have mostly been concentrating on the new CD.. which is REALLY coming .. (yeah, we've heard that before) ~ it's a lot different than my first CD.. but still very much a part of me..

Now, I am back in LA for a little while then heading off to Bahrain for a little relaxation then back on the road.. must confess though.. still have not unpacked my suitcases from my last tour.. hum, guess that is where it helps to have closets full of clothes!!

Well, life has been zipping by... family is all good... music is great... I am happy, healthy and thanking all my friends and, of course, family who have been so wonderful ..

Trust life is well for each of you!

A windy day in London

I had a few hours to go out today before my last show here in London .. Aside from the wind... it was a lovely day...

After popping into the V&A Museum (see photos below) - I am happy to report I did absolutely nothing but, sit in a coffee shop with a dear friend and "people watch" ~ :-)

Nothing too exciting to report.. (except Arsenal did not exactly lose today)... it was just a lovely day.. now, am off to prepare for my show..

Wow... has another year passed by already?? Seems like it was just January... wait!! That was a bad month for me .. but whatever :-)

The year has come and gone and with it ... so many changes have taken place in my life and, I am sure for anyone [get it ... the ONE] person who reads this!! ;-) - Obviously, with all the changes, it has not all been good – but, it has definitely been for the better!

The last few months have been intense ... it has been a time to reflect on where I am going in life and how I intend to get there... my god, now I sound like my mother! :-)

On a personal level, I've begun working on the foundations of a few great relationships and, as life has it ... have lost some too ... but, really... this is not why people read this blog... RIGHT!?!?

On a musical level, ... songs are still coming, work with Giulio and Nami continues.. simply put, I could not ask for more... well, perhaps I could.. but at this time, I won't. A new project is in the works and, this time; I am not in a rush… [I'm working on patience... wow is that hard!!] ;-)

So anyhow, enough of the mushy stuff... overall .... I guess what I want to say is Thank You to all my friends who have helped me this year ---- by the brutal honesty and being there for me when I needed it ... the good and the bad days...

Wait! There is a point to this blog right?!?! Um, not really... but just to wish each of you a wonderful and safe New Year... May the coming year bring personal happiness, success, and, all that each of you desire....

In closing .... New Year's resolutions... yeah.. I never keep them ... but I’ve been asked to update this blog more and, share the photos from shows, life, work, and travel.... I shall try... really.. right after I get don’t running the LA City Marathon... (do they even have that?)

As of late, life has changed considerably, moving house, last official week of work in the real world, studying and travel on the horizon…

The website is completed. Friday should be the day that the new and improved http://www.amiena.com/ site is up. I would love to hear feedback (only nice though please.. Just joking)

Friday is also my last day at work! Oh Yeah! How wonderful is that?!?! No need to answer, I am over the moon about it.

Having recently been made single again ..I am back in the studio … writing feverishly and preparing for upcoming shows.

Well, life is moving along in a crazy but exciting way….Something similar to a roller-coaster.. however, am still not ready to get off … Am back in the studio … working on new tunes and brushing up on some old ones…

Recently I have been hooked up with Nami ….. Here is a little info on him…

He is what Persians call the pioneer of Persian trance music. The multi talented “Nami” also known as “DJ Nami” . He is one of the top ranked Persian DJ’s throughout Europe, Middle East and USA.

The Audio/Visual artist Nami began studying music as a young boy living in Tehran, Iran.
Later he lived in France and the United States, where he also studied music of the surrounding cultures to implement into his artistic music style.

His last album became the album of the year in Iran, and is still selling.

Currently, He is working on a remix project for the singer, songwriter Amiena due this fall. Nami is also working on a project with legendary producer David Kershenbaum.

So that is all very nice… oh, and I know there has been a lot of talk about the site being re-done.. but this time is it REALLY happening .. a complete overhaul from what it is presently.. Long Overdue…

On a personal note.. “Ramadan Mubarek” to those who celebrate.. and, Happy (late – only by one day) Birthday Ashish!!

One last note, I am engrossed in an amazing conversation with my lovely friend … and he keeps popping off with lovely thought provoking comments.. a few statements might find their way into a new song.. however, I leave you with this … on the subject of love, people and relationships… [yep, Rocky.. there is a song coming! :-) ]

Lately as some of you know... my older brother has been in the hospital .... he had an operation earlier this week, so I was really freaked out to say the least... I mean, no matter how different the roads we take in life are .... siblings are irreplaceable... anyhow, as an update, he is still in the hospital, but is now moved to a regular room .. so, that makes me incredibly happy... and, just to show how elated I am ... here are a few pics... [yep, he will flip when he sees them however, tis just my little way of showing I care.... :-) ]

Anyhow, this blog really has nothing to do with music ... it is just one of those blogs when you say what a lovely day it turned out to be after all... and, of course, an excuse to place photos of the flowers Badr sent me last week.... sadly, they do not look as lovely as they did when I received them... but, I love them..... so does Zaharah (the cat)....

Today... hum, today is Tuesday and here in LA ... the sun is shining, the street are busy and Dean is another year older.... Hum who would have thought that this blog would basically turn into a birthday thingy? Oh well...

Moving on ... (my favourite phrase and thing to do in life) my hero and, the great guy who plays my little gigs, Jamie Kime , is headed out on tour with Zappa Plays Zappa today.... (Of course, there is also the absolutely amazing H. Chris Roy and Ben Thomas and Kats who play as well... however, they have not left today on tour)...

Yep... that was my quote for the day.... so .... anyhow... my day started out pretty much the same as any Saturday morning ... waking up considerably early since I had no place important to be.... (why can't that work for me on the weekdays?!?!)

This morning as I sat in my bedroom looking in my mirror searching for gray hairs ... I received the most pleasant of all surprises.... I received a Fat Free Birthday Cake! How cool is that .... ?!?

However, not to be left out... this little personal one was sweet too.... Thank you ....

Anyhow... a big thanks to all who sent flowers, cards and notes... and, I must say ... those text messages... who can keep up with the responses??

Moving on .. someone sent me an e-mail the other day asking why there were no pictures of me on my site from when I was a little girl .. so we searched through photo albums and came up with this one... well, actually there was one of me and my older brother... but, this one seemed safe :-)

Ok.. so I am not one to talk about gifts and such, however, having said that ..... A HUGE thank you to Erin and Israel for the most amazing and heartfelt gift I think I have received in a very ...very .. long time... I cannot wait to get it home and have it to look at everyday.... Thank you both! How lucky am I to have great friends in you guys?!?!

So that is that for the moment ... I leave you all now as it is late and I am tired... but wishing you each a wonderful remainder of the weekend ....

Biography … Amiena

Her love for music and variations of styles developed at a young age. Growing up in a home without a TV, Amiena spent her time listening to music.

It was at an early age that she was introduced to the sounds of Lou Christie, Chicago, Amy Grant, The Temptations, Carole King, Cheb Khalid, Billie Holiday, The Bill Gather Vocal Band, Lanny Wolfe, Andrae Crouch, and, many other amazing musical artists.

Not surprisingly, at the age of five she ventured into her first solo performance of the standard “Sunshine, Sunshine”. Thereafter, she pursued her evolving musical passion through vocal competitions, gigs, and even humanitarian causes.

Amiena has worked on several musical compilation projects, despite having never pursued the opportunity to work on a solo project of her own.
In the late 90's, Amiena continued to write songs and perform; however, she also pursued ambitions in the legal world.

In 2000, Amiena was asked to submit a song for a TV show. Although the song was completed, it never aired. “It’s the Hope” now sits somewhere in her collection of CD's. Despite the 'shelving' of the song, that experience prompted Amiena to re-explore her musical passion again.
In early 2005, her musical endeavors began to 'flow' and she joined forces with her Producer and Co-Writer, Rocky Grisez. Together, their work has resulted in Amiena's first solo CD; 'Right Here' released in 2006.

‘Right Here' is a collection of thoughts and dreams captured in musical form – transcends different musical genres; it expresses deep connections with different people and places.

In November 2006, Amiena walked away from the LA Music Awards with R&B Album of the Year and Nu-Jazz Vocalist of the Year for the song Fourth Floor. More symbolic, perhaps, it reflects her introduction, grounding and eclectic style in music, song writing and performance. However, one thing is certain - it will be part of musical 'futures' to come.

Again.. I am late on the blogging… but really… does it matter?? :-)

Life has been very busy.. keeping me on my toes.. popping between the UK and LA still.. I was fortunate a few weeks ago to hang out with my favourite little person, my niece, Cassie….

That was great fun and relaxing … Finally..

Moving on to birthday's .... Ahh.. little Avi… happy 5th kido… hope it is a great one!

Now, about the music.. [because that is what we are all here for right] ... all continues to move at a snails pace … but moving nonetheless…. Am doing a private little party this Saturday… that promises lots of fun and cosmos! Pictures to follow...

Also, on the 11th … the guys and I are back to Genghis Cohen … so if you are in town . pop in ..

I believe there is a show or two coming up at the Cat Club on Sunset as well.... thank you Ian...

Falling behind again!

Well I would apologize but really that might be a bit pointless… so moving on..

All is busy and lovely… I cannot remember the last time I did a blog.. However, as of late, I have just been running mad…. :-)

Last Saturday I sang at the MDA Gala in Beverly Hills, which was lovely… I believe the event was called, “A Night Under The Stars” … I am told I will get a copy of the performance and some photos soon ….
Will of course, pass those on … on that note.. a quick thanks to Jamie, the coordinator, for being so amazing .. and of course, the Ho-Dads who accompanied me … You guys are/were great- however, I am sure you know that … Check out their site if you need some music for your next event…

Between the world of myspace ... and my blackberry... I wondered what it would be like to live without my blackberry for just one day.... So I took that thought and applied it to my weekend .. and below is just one of the e-mails I received!!

"What's going on have you been surgically removed from your blackberry? I called you twice!! I am only astounded because I know you and your phone are one!!! "

Perhaps it just shows how much of a technology junkie I really am!!!

Hello… to whoever reads this! So, last week was simply wonderful … for a few reasons… one, my friend showed up from England for my show on the 31st – although I had the day written down wrong I managed to collect her from the airport… somewhat on time… :-)

We had a great time … did the tourist thing .. went to the beach … did not drink near enough alcohol, but shared a load of laughs, of course, at the expense of others… [read: the beach] and, I was able to slow down just a bit to spread time with my younger sister who popped over for a short visit too!

my sister... (had Sandra here too.. but she flipped out!! SORRY!! LoL)

Moving on … my show… Ah.. it was fun .. and, it was lovely to see people there… Imagine that! My friend, Sandra, videotaped it … luckily [!!!!] as the place I played recorded it but when it came time to finalize the CD, they lost it… hum, this stuff only happens to me! :-)

Having said that …. I must go off on a tangent about vending machines… I simply cannot express how utterly annoying it is when you put your change or your last single bill into the machine and then the item does not come out all the way… leaving you left staring at the machine …. waiting for people to walk away so you don’t embarrass yourself by trying to get your item! And, although it works in the movies…. kicking the machine simply does not work!

Ok .. peace, love and happiness to all .. well, almost all… there are a few who I could careless about .. :-)

Lately, it seems the world is moving so quickly, it is hard to keep up …. Then out of nowhere appears a beacon of light .. however, that beacon clearly is out for selfish fulfillment … perhaps a way to work a way through a mid-life crisis!?! Who knows… pay backs a bitch … Karma on you… [lol.. you so know who you are!! ]

Anyhow, am heading to London in a few days to work with some great artists and will have some new music posted then …

Presently, I am working on a new song .. of which a title has yet to be born – but the composer is Guilio Granati… he is fantastic ..

On another personal note.. Happy Late Birthday dear Kemal [you know you read this] and Mr. Farahat… Happiness always to two of my favourite guys!!

Hi all .... again, apologies for slacking off on this blog... Life has been great and crazy all at the same time ...

Wow… in with the New Year.. Goodbye 2006...
Well, a quick recap of last year.. my debut CD "Right Here" came out FINALLY …and, sales have been steady (although you NEVER can have too many!). I’ve discovered how wonderful iTunes and Rhapsody are ~ yep, I am talking about all those individual downloads! They are great!!

I’ve been popping between Los Angeles and London and am now quiet happy to be back in Los Angeles… working on marketing my CD while writing new tunes.

I’ve been fortunate to meet some amazing musicians and have lent a hand on several other projects that really take me in different musical directions... I was nominated for several awards with LA Music Awards and walked away with Female Vocalist of the Year, New Jazz, for my song “Fourth Floor”. I also walked away with R&B/Soul Album of the Year for my debut CD ‘Right Here’. A song I sang vocals on called "Never Know" which can be heard on my music player was aired on the t.v. show 'Bones'. I also discovered the phenomenon of myspace!! It's addictive! If you have not checked out my site, please do... www.myspace.com/amiena. And, of course there is more, but it has just been so amazingly crazy, fun and exciting, I am bound to leave something out!

Overall, there have been some crazy bumps along the year, but it has been wonderful…

On a personal note, one of my brothers got married (welcome to the family Shyane), my youngest niece discovered e-mail, one brother graduated from college and me, well, I am still single and without children.. but that is ok… my CD is my ‘baby’ so to speak and she is doing rather well!! Oh.. and, for those who are up close and personal, I finally got an iPod...! (well, it is arriving any day in the post!)

I hope that each of you have a wonderful New Year and that success and happiness becomes your shadow!

Hello All...

So, last night I was out and about and I get a few text messages from folks informing me that truly, a song I recorded about 4 years ago which was written and produced by another artist called 'Never Know' was played at the beginning of the TV. show Bones..... It is a nice song, although not on my CD, 'Right Here'.

The artist who wrote, produced and sang back-up vocals on the song has it available on his site if you want to have a listen and/or purchase it. His link is http://www.bobgentry.com/.

As for me, all remains well and good. Busy.. Busy... Busy.... Thanksgiving is right around the corner so that means, travel.... Whew.

Hello All...
Well as you know, I was nominated and won Female Vocalist of the Year, New Jazz and Album of the Year, Soul R&B last Thursday. Here are some of the pictures from Thursday night and there are more to come, including some video clips of the songs I performed.

So basically the night started out around 6:00 p.m. Another artist, Robert Popa and I walked the red carpet around the same time, although we were interviewed separately. It was actually really cool, but we'll keep that between us!! :-)

Anyhow, I think the rest of the photos below are self explanatory.... Overall, it was an amazing night and I met a lot of people ... great musicians, singers and music lovers. I had a great support team around me .... and, of course, Jamie, the fantastic guitarist who happens to be off tour and honored me with his talent and played the set for me!! A million thanks for that....

So... Rocky and I made it down the the Music Box Theatre to pick up the nomination certificates... it was really cool to see so many other people there! The night was a bit crazy and taking photos were the last thing on our minds.... :-)

Well... here is the short of it all... I have just returned from London ... A nice big thank you to those who sorted me out while I was there...

Well... today has been a funny day... I received yet again another e-mail from LA Music and learned there had been an accident and I in fact have NOT been nominated for Soul/R&B Album of the year... so ok.. a slight disappointment, but hey... it's all good ~ :-)

Let me first start by saying, you ARE a nominee, and you have been nominated, congratulations to you, you are deserving of it!! You also have received a few Honorable Mentions.
